PennDOT wins Outstanding State DOT Program award

The Rubber Pavements Association (RPA) recognized the efforts of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation for their use of asphalt rubber on I-78 in Berks County near Harrisburg. The RPA presented the DOT with the 2012 Outstanding State DOT Program for its pilot project using an Asphalt Rubber Gap-Graded Friction Course that incorporated Evotherm warm mix asphalt technology. The purpose of the pilot project is to evaluate the benefits of Asphalt Rubber in a gap graded WMA pavement surface course.
The award was presented at District 5-0 headquarters in Allentown and was accepted by the design and construction team.
