Ingevity Partners with the Arbor Day Foundation to Plant Trees on Earth Day

PRESS RELEASE

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC, April 22, 2022 – Ingevity is partnering with the Arbor Day Foundation to plant 5,000 trees on Earth Day through the foundation’s reforestation program. The trees will be planted in the Michigan State Forest, the United States’ forest of greatest need in 2022, and will help address deforestation in the region, remove carbon and other harmful gases, and provide natural habitats for wildlife.

“Ingevity’s purpose is to purify, protect and enhance the world around us,” said Ingevity sustainability director, Matt Redmann. “For years, we’ve accomplished this through the products we manufacture from the byproducts of the papermaking industry. This partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation allows us to bring our purpose full circle through reforestation of trees on Earth Day and continued community canopy programs in the future.”

“Working alongside organizations like Ingevity is a key component in our ability to do what we do best,” said Dan Lambe, Chief Executive of the Arbor Day Foundation. “Trees and forests are helping to solve some of the most pressing issues people and the planet are facing today. Environmental action requires a tremendous amount of teamwork, which is why we are so thrilled to have Ingevity on board to help.”

In total, The Arbor Day Foundation plans to plant nearly 6 million trees on Michigan state lands through the partnership with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. As the forests mature, they will provide a wide variety of ecosystem services including carbon sequestration and water filtration.
