Adsorbed natural gas vehicle technology to be presented at NGV Global Conference

PRESS RELEASE

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C., Jan. 16, 2017 – Ingevity will participate for the first time at the NGV Global Conference and Exhibition in Rotterdam, Netherlands, from March 20–23, 2017. Ingevity is part of a manufacturing coalition including Adsorbed Natural Gas Products (ANGP) that will showcase its proprietary carbon fiber composite conformable adsorbed natural gas (ANG) tank for the commercial light duty vehicle (LDV) market. Robert Bonelli, coalition spokesperson and ANGP’s chief executive officer, will present ANG bi-fuel hybrid vehicle technology, while Ingevity’s Dr. Billy-Paul Holbrook, senior product research scientist, will present the practical fundamentals of an adsorbent for natural gas vehicles.

“As ANG technology advances, vehicle original equipment manufacturers are recognizing the value of low pressure natural gas storage combined with low-pressure natural gas compression,” says Bonelli. “Activated carbon monoliths and conformable tanks significantly improve storage capacity and mounting options, enabling the economic benefits of low-pressure refueling for private fleets and residential vehicles.”

“As the exclusive activated carbon supplier to the coalition, Ingevity has engineered a monolith product that provides affordability and excellent, stable cycling performance over the life of a vehicle,” explains Dr. Holbrook. “The coalition has significantly improved natural gas storage performance compared to adsorbent powder-filled cylinders.”
