Ingevity launches environmentally friendly EnvaSolv™ dissolvers for oilfield drilling fluids

PRESS RELEASE

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C., Oct. 27, 2016 – Ingevity has announced the introduction of EnvaSolv™, a new line of biodegradable solvents to be used in oilfield applications. EnvaSolv products are terpene-based solvents that prevent downtime by dissolving wax and asphaltene buildup in wellbore, surface and pipeline systems.

The EnvaSolv product line has similar performance characteristics to d-limonene-based solvents and benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylene (BTEX) solvents. However, because EnvaSolv is derived from pine chemicals, it is an environmentally friendly option with stable pricing when compared to d-limonene based solvents, and it is easier and safer to handle than BTEX solvents.

“Historically, the oilfield industry has been forced to choose between using environmentally friendly products or products with more stable pricing,” said Todd Schroeder, Ingevity’s global director, oilfield business development and innovation. “We are excited to offer a product line that offers both of these characteristics.”
