Ingevity gives back to the Covington community this holiday season
PRESS RELEASE
COVINGTON, Va., Dec. 18, 2017 – Ingevity continues to work to make a difference in the Covington community. The company hosted a food drive for those in need, sponsored a craft night at the Boys Home of Virginia and donated gifts through the Christmas Mother program.
For the first two weeks in November, employees at the Covington, Va., plant sponsored a Thanksgiving food drive for McAllister Memorial Presbyterian Church Food Bank. On Nov. 16, a truck bed full of nonperishable food items collected from the plant along with funds totaling $870 were donated to the food bank.
On Nov. 9, Ingevity employees hosted a Christmas craft night at the Boys Home of Virginia. Residents of the home used buttons and canvas to create gifts for the upcoming holidays.
In December, Ingevity’s Women’s Network adopted a family for Christmas through the Christmas Mother Program. Employees donated bedding, drinking glasses, silverware, cleaning supplies, personal care supplies, clothes and toys for a family of six. Pajamas were also donated, as a special present for all children in need this year. In addition to the donated items, Ingevity contributed $1,000 to the program.
Brooke Wolfe, administrative assistant, Ingevity, said, “Working together to raise money and collect items for the food bank and Christmas Mother program was truly a rewarding experience. The smiles on the faces of the residents of the Boys Home as we made crafts made our volunteerism even sweeter. Employees at the Covington plant made amazing things happen throughout this holiday season.”
