Ingevity employees lend a hand during Trident United Way’s 20th Annual Day of Caring… virtually!
PRESS RELEASE
NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C., November 23, 2020 – Ingevity (NYSE: NGVT) employees recently led safe and socially distanced acts of kindness during Trident United Way’s 20th Annual Day of Caring. Employees led a virtual career fair with students at Wando High School; donated school supplies and personal protective equipment to students at Memminger, Chicora, Mitchell and Sanders Clyde Elementary Schools; provided gifts to seniors at Charleston Area Senior Citizens; created kindness rocks with positive messages to be placed around the community; and penned thank you cards for teachers and healthcare workers.
“Challenging times call for innovative approaches to volunteerism,” said Monifa Ellington, manager, community relations. “As a result, the COVID-19 pandemic changed the way Ingevity normally participates in Day of Caring. While we’ve renovated homes, planted gardens and hosted food distributions in the past, ensuring the safety and health of our employees and residents in our community will always be our top priority. We’re just as passionate about our work in the community as the sustainable products we create. But we couldn’t safely move forward with in-person events. Our partnership with Trident United Way provided opportunities for us to do what we love, giving back to our community, in a way that was safe for all.”
Trident United Way’s Day of Caring is the largest single day of community service in the Charleston area. Ingevity employees give their time and energy to causes that align with the company’s focus on sustainability, human health and education. Ingevity’s partnership with Trident United Way aligns with this focus as the organization fosters community engagement.
