Lowcountry Food Bank’s Walk to Fight Hunger raises $60,001 to feed food-insecure neighbors

INGEVITY IN THE NEWS

The Lowcountry Food Bank held a “hybrid” walk event to bring greater awareness to hunger issues in coastal South Carolina during Feeding America’s Hunger Action Month and raise funds for Lowcountry Food Bank programs, including Senior Meals, Childhood Hunger programs, and fresh produce options for the community.

The Lowcountry Food Bank Walk to Fight Hunger, presented by Charles River, took place on Sunday at Riverfront Park in North Charleston. Donors and friends were encouraged to drop in to the park and participate in a self-guided walking tour at their own pace and comfort level.

Lowcountry Food Bank also hosted a “drive-thru” food drive at the event. Participants graciously donated more than 850 pounds of non-perishable, canned proteins, canned fruits and canned vegetables, and 75 pounds of diapers.

Hearty thanks go to Presenting Sponsor Charles River and the Walk to Fight Hunger corporate partners who supported the event: Ashton Woods, ClaimLogiq, Crews Subaru, Food Lion Feeds, iHeart Media Charleston, Ingevity, Live 5 News, Publix, and Smithey Ironware Company. Many thanks to First Reliance Bank, The Washout, Ellen & Michael Mintz, and Berkeley Electric Cooperative. Read more…
