Caltrans I-Team “strongly recommends” WMA
Nov 16, 2010
There seemed to be a snowball effect going on last week. The Caltrans Division of Research and Innovation issued a brief that “strongly recommends the use of warm-mix asphalt (WMA) on paving projects throughout California because of its many proven improvements over hot-mix asphalt (HMA)”. The brief lists the multiple benefits of warm-mix including fuel conservation, lower emissions, better compaction, extended paving season, etc. Three successes of WMA were highlighted: inclusion in the FHWA’s Every Day Counts initiative, results of the European WMA scan, and construction of trial sections in 43 states as of January 2010. We’re honored they included Evotherm as one of their “ready to deploy” technologies – check out the slide show below for pictures from some Evotherm WMA jobs in California!
