Take a little trip

Nov 07, 2012

Take a little trip down the "Greenest Street in America", according to the Chicago Department of Transportation. The mixes used on Cermak Road in Chicago, Illinois, contained recycled asphalt pavement (RAP), recycle asphalt shingles (RAS), and/or ground tire rubber (GTR). Evotherm warm mix asphalt produced all the designs 50-60 °F lower than their conventional temps. Cermak Road, a historical industrial corridor, receives some of the heaviest truck traffic in the city.

You can cruise down the street with WBEZ via the video on their website here and then get the back story from Jason Mapes' post last year after construction.
