VIDEO: Impressive Emulsion Application Setup

At the end of July, Granite Construction applied open-graded 64/-28 PMA 3/8" mix for CalTrans and Telfer using 5% Evotherm DAT with a special applicator shown in the attached video. The paver is filled with both emulsion and mix. The applicator box lays a thin emulsion layer to bond the HMA on top. The emulsion is brown in the video. Nominal lift thickness was 3/4". The purpose of this mix and technique is that it is a more efficient overlay to extend the pavement life than either an ultrathin HMA or a slurry seal. Pretty impressive setup!
