Connecting the DOTs kicks off
Jun 02, 2016
We kicked off the 2016 paving season with the inaugural episode of “Connecting the DOTs, a one-of-a-kind quarterly webinar series that provides Department of Transportation (DOT) personnel with a platform to share their experiences and successes with the newest developments in pavement technologies. “We’ve learned through world-class organizations like the National Asphalt Pavement Association and the Asphalt Institute of the profound benefits of bringing industry together at a national or international level. The impact these associations have through collaboration and shared learning serve as a catalyst for innovation,” explains Jonathan MacIver, Business Director, Evotherm Technologies. “Our goal with this web-based initiative is to provide a setting where agency personnel can collaborate in a similar manner and benefit from the experiences of their peers.”
Tyler Francis, Technical Marketing Manager in Oklahoma, Kansas and Nebraska believes that the webinars are “a welcome addition to participants’ educational resources. Tight agency budgets limit travel to professional development opportunities. As a result, agency personnel can miss out on new developments that occur in different parts of the country. We’re changing this by bringing the innovation right to their offices. We’re giving them a forum to learn, ask and share as much as they need to in order to feel confident in choosing technologies that their State may not have traditionally used.”
In the series’ inaugural webinar on June 1, 2016, Robert Rea, PE, Assistant Materials and Research Engineer at the Nebraska Department of Roads (NDOR), presented “Using Warm Mix Asphalt with High Recycled Content.” The webinar series gives participants the opportunity to select future topics and speakers, and offers credit for continuing professional education requirements. Not just limited to DOT employees, Connecting the DOTs is open to personnel from city and county municipalities.
Don’t miss the recast.
