Innovation top of mind at 74th annual STLE

May 31, 2019

Members of our Lubricants team recently spent time in Nashville for the 74th Society of Tribologists and Lubrication Engineers (STLE) Annual Meeting and Exhibition—a five-day conference that featured technical information, professional development and international networking opportunities. We joined nearly 1,800 lubrication professionals and learned about the latest products, services and trends within the tribology industry. As an annual exhibitor, our team showcased our product offerings, connected with fellow industry colleagues to adsorb the major industry trends.

Numerous sessions touched on existing industry threats, such as electric vehicles, and how accelerating innovation is the solution to getting ahead.

During his keynote, Jeff Hemphill, chief technical officer for Schaeffler Americas emphasized:

“The world is changing quickly. The opportunities for tribology are increasing. Industry needs innovation from you, but we need you to go faster.”

Companies must consider alternatives to standard research methods. For example, speeding up the pace of innovation can be done through establishing new partnerships, considering startups and engaging with people that work quickly and efficiently.
