Faces of Lubricants – Trezy Xue
Jun 27, 2018
Trezy is a vibrant account manager with an urge to always learn something new. She has held various positions at Ingevity ranging from office manager to regional marketing lead for the APAC region. With the merge of Ingevity’s oilfield and lubricants teams, Trezy’s new role will include regional sales for Ingevity’s metalworking fluids and oilfield products. A hardworking wife and mother, Trezy is currently residing in Shanghai and completing her Masters of Business Administration degree.
Tell us about the experience you bring to your role and what you do at Ingevity.
During the last eight years at Ingevity, I’ve had the privilege of holding various roles. I started as an office manager for the previous Specialty Chemicals Division of MWV in China. Thanks to this role, I developed communication, commercial knowledge, project management and customer relations skills. With my marketing degree, I was able to expand my role as regional marketing lead for APAC in 2015, taking initiatives to build marketing intelligence for performance chemicals in the regions. In 2016, I took on the commercial responsibilities to manage Ingevity oilfield sales in China.
Thankfully Ingevity is always open to employee growth opportunities. So here I am, transitioning to a new sales role that encompasses the lubricants and oilfield businesses.
What are you most excited about for the future of the Lubricants team?
I am most excited to learn more about the lubricants business now that the team has combined with oilfield. I believe this will create more synergies and strengthen our team overall. I look forward to build relationships with new coworkers and customers.
Name one thing about your work that gets you out of bed in the morning.
Currently, I’m focusing on learning as much as I can about the metalworking fluid industry. There’s a Chinese saying, “A solid start will assure half of your success,” that motivates me every day.
What does your typical day look like as a sales rep for the Lubricants team?
My day usually consists of reviewing orders, planning replenishments and talking to distributors in order to better understand industry trends. I look forward to visiting customers very soon.
Who are your heroes in real life?
My dad. He is such a hard worker and support system for my family. He makes everything possible.
If not yourself, who would you be?
A male version of myself.
What’s a hobby you’d like to begin?
Hiking. I love feeling connected with nature and “being off the grid.” Being outdoors in the wilderness away from civilization and the hustle and bustle of everyday is so calming. Plus, there are so much astonishing views in nature. It’s nice to disconnect from our cell phones every now and then!
Where would you like to live?
Shanghai, China.
What does success mean to you?
Success is feeling free from financial pressure of making a living and having my family surrounding me in Shanghai.
Who inspires you to be better?
My MBA classmates are constantly inspiring me. Everyone is from different professions, education backgrounds and geographical areas. Many of them are already elites in many areas, but still working so hard to make a difference in their lives and for the world.
Among your friends or family, what are you famous for?
I’m a huge movie fan.
What is your dream vacation?
Any vacation is good vacation to me. Taking my daughter to the beach is one that stands out in particularly.
