Tell us about the experience you bring to your role.
I have a bachelor’s degree in business administration and Spanish from Columbia College, and received an MBA from Charleston Southern University. Prior to joining Ingevity, I worked for a government contract company overseeing the financial status of projects, such as GI Bill. Analyzing and working to keep government projects within budget was very difficult and tedious work, but it helped me learn to pay attention to detail and adapt to change. Both skills have contributed to my career growth within Ingevity.
What’s your go-to productivity trick?
Scheduling out my day. I tend to schedule my days out with both meetings and blocked time for tasks or projects nearly two weeks out.
What behavior or personality trait do you most attribute your success to, and why?
Self-Managing. I can self-prioritize my goals and hold myself accountable for accomplishing them. This allows me to control my time, consideration and feelings while remaining mindful of my strengths, weaknesses and possible biases. This trait has also allowed me to balance my personal and professional life.
What’s a work-related accomplishment that you’re really proud of?
I am really proud of my colleague, Brittany Clark. She was my first direct report, and I take a lot of pride in how quickly she adapted to her role in our business. It was through her own innate abilities, but I like to think I had a helping hand in managing her and setting her up for career growth. It is a very gratifying feeling.
What is your favorite thing about working at Ingevity?
The flexibility. Flexibility not just in time management or being able to work from home, but the flexibility in decision making. The speed at which data or new information becomes readily available now is almost instantaneous, having a flexible decision-making environment is critical to changing course if needed.
What’s the best advice you were ever given?
Try not to take anything personally. No one thinks about you as much as you do.
What’s the top destination on your must-visit list?
Tokyo, Japan
What natural talent would you like to have?
The ability to speak 5-6 different languages.

What would we most likely find you doing on the weekend?
Running a 5K or playing outdoors with my children.
Among your friends or family, what are you famous for?
I am famous for my rendition of Santa Baby in my high school talent show. I made the local newspaper.
What’s your guilty pleasure?
This would have to be Asian dramas. I binge quite frequently on Korean and Chinese dramas on Netflix and Viki Rakuten.
If you could choose a superpower, what would it be?
Time travel. I would love to have the ability to go in and out of different time eras.
What is something people would be surprised to know about you?
I played the violin for about 12 years and was in an orchestra for a few years.
What is special about the place you grew up?
It is a small peninsula called Pinopolis, which literally means city of pine trees.
