ASTM guide helps users select best test methods

Dec 27, 2018

American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) developed a new standard to help users select the most appropriate test methods measuring the properties of lubricants. The guide, ASTM D8146, will help users evaluate and compare the performance of different tests that measure the same property. It covers techniques for evaluating the statistical capability and fitness for use of standard test methods used for measuring properties of petroleum products, liquid fuels and lubricants.

ASTM International offers global access to fully transparent standards development. Today, more than 12,000 ASTM standards are used around the world to improve product quality, enhance health and safety, strengthen market access and trade, and build consumer confidence.

Why should you care?

Since the guide can be used to assess the adequacy of the repeatability and reproducibility, it will be beneficial to help select the most appropriate test methods for various products.
