Ingevity receives awards from South Carolina Manufacturers Alliance

PRESS RELEASE

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C., April 6, 2017 – Ingevity recently received two awards from the South Carolina Manufacturers Alliance (SCMA) for its corporate responsibility contributions and safety performance: the Made in South Carolina Excellence in Corporate Responsibility Award and the Safety Performance Award.

The Made in South Carolina Excellence in Corporate Responsibility Award, which was awarded to Ingevity’s combined Charleston-based locations, honors recipients based on perseverance in the areas of wellness, community involvement, philanthropy and environmental safety. “This award tells the story of the positive contributions that manufacturers make in their local communities,” said Hunter Harris, director of operations at Ingevity. “We are truly humbled to be recognized for our ongoing commitment to corporate responsibility, which is the foundation of our sustainability initiative.”

The Safety Performance Award, which was awarded to Ingevity’s Charleston plant, recognizes facilities with a low rate of incidents resulting in lost workdays, job transfers or restrictions. The Charleston plant accepted this award at the SCMA Annual Safety Summit, alongside some of South Carolina’s most respected industrial facilities. “Employees at our Charleston plant worked over 426,000 hours during the 2016 calendar year without an Occupational, Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) recordable injury, and we are very proud of this achievement,” said Eric Walmet, plant manager.

“The manufacturing industry as a whole is held to high standards when it comes to achieving this award,” said Scott Coleman, SCMA plant safety conference chairman and HR manager for Sage Automotive Interiors. “We are pleased to present these awards to our members as it demonstrates our continued efforts to ensure the safety and health of our associates.”
