Ingevity donates $8,000 through Partners in Education program

PRESS RELEASE

DERIDDER, La., Oct. 30, 2017 – Ingevity presented checks totaling $8,000 on Sept. 19 to DeRidder High School and Sept. 29 to DeRidder Junior High School. The funds were donated through the Partners in Education program, a joint venture between Beauregard Parish School District and Beauregard Area Chamber of Commerce.

Monies donated by Ingevity will support field trips, classroom lectures, and other programs geared towards the academic success of students, including MATHCOUNTS, a program that increases the math and problem-solving skills of middle school students.

“We’re extremely excited to have the continued support of Ingevity as a Partner in Education,” stated David Wentzel, principal of DeRidder Junior High School. “Our MATHCOUNTS program has two distinct roles, both of which are supported by the funding graciously provided by Ingevity. One portion is a math competition team that travels throughout the region. We host one of the competitions here at DeRidder Junior High School with representatives from Ingevity who assist on that day. The other portion is a math club for students who are interested in math, but do not necessarily want to compete.”

Danny Kyle, plant manager for Ingevity, stated, “Educating our youth is vital to ensuring a prosperous future for us all. Our relationship with DeRidder High School and DeRidder Junior High School is invaluable to us.”
