Ingevity donates over $5,000 in support of STEM at Wickliffe local schools

WICKLIFFE, Ky., Dec. 18, 2017 – Ingevity recently presented checks to Fancy Farm Elementary School, Lone Oak Family Resources, Heath Elementary School and Graves County Middle School in support of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education:

  • On Dec. 1, Jenny Buckman, environmental engineer, presented Fancy Farm Elementary School’s academic team with a check on behalf of Ingevity in the amount of $1,240 for new competition buzzers. While on site, Buckman provided students with a brief overview of Ingevity, insight into products manufactured at the Wickliffe chemical facility and her view on being an engineer.
  • On Dec. 12, Buckman presented a check on behalf of Ingevity to Grave County Middle School in the amount of $2,500 to increase STEM initiatives at the school.
  • On Dec. 13, Doug Weber, lead engineer, presented a check on behalf of Ingevity in the amount of $750 to Heath Elementary school to purchase iPads for coding, to cover fees for coding websites and other resources for engineering practices.
  • On Dec. 15, Reid Clontz, production manager, presented a check on behalf of Ingevity in the amount of $750 to Lone Oak Family Resources. The donation will provide necessities like food and clothes to children in need, ensuring their ability to focus on education.

“Our employees are always passionate about giving throughout the community,” said Dave Althouse, plant manager. “We’ve formed a philanthropy committee, known as IngeviCares, so that we can find even more ways to volunteer and make charitable contributions throughout the year. We’re looking forward to another year of giving in 2018.”
