Volvo paving course

Apr 06, 2017

Do you have an interest in or responsibility for the laydown and compaction of WMA, HMA or SMA? Mark your calendars for Volvo’s upcoming Paver Compactor Operation & Maintenance course from April 11–14 in Phoenix, Ariz. Ingevity’s Jason Mapes, technical services manager for Evotherm® technologies and subject matter expert, will be a guest teacher at the course which covers everything from paver preparation and operation to compactor preparation and operation. Mapes has been a guest teacher at the Volvo course for the last three years.

The objective of the course is to demonstrate applied training techniques to instruct paving and compaction best practices. Participants will learn to correctly and safely use a paver and compactor; and to achieve the highest quality work without sacrificing production or increasing costs.

“I’d encourage everyone in our industry who thinks about or touches the design or construction of roads to attend this course,” shares Mapes. “We’ve seen attendees range from Volvo internal sales to contractors and agencies. I am always pleased to see people at the course learning the foundations and best practices of paving. Good roads start here.”

Mapes says that participants enjoy “interacting with others from all over the country and the world. It provides insight into how each region is different in their approach to paving. It is also great to go back and go over the foundations of paving.”
