Working Day & Night

Lane BSNF RR

Lane Construction paved Burlington Northern Santa Fe rail terminal in Haslet, TX during the winter months of December 2014-January 2015. The BNSF project was on a fast paced timeline that required Lane Construction to work day and night, 7 days a week to complete the project. While you may not associate Texas with cold weather paving, overnight lows hovered around 40 degrees F during these months.

To handle the truck traffic, the rail terminal required a Superpave Type A Base placed in 2 lifts for a total of 8.5” and then capped with 1.5” of Superpave D mix. Both mixes used a stiff 76-22 binder grade. Lane Construction chose Evotherm to produce quality asphalt in such extreme conditions. Over a month of day and night paving with 2 crews Lane paved a little over 100,000 tons and 40 acres to complete the project.

As an added bonus on the BNSF project, Lane Construction was also recognized by the Texas Asphalt Paving Association by receiving the 2015 award for the Best Parking Lot Category.

Congratulations Lane Construction!
